Stayed for 2 nights in this lovely place, thoroughly enjoyed that. Got bright, impressive room with a view of the egyptian museum. The location was unbeatable, just a short stroll away from Elegant Voyage. They recommended a clean restaurant for dinner.

Hotel Staff was very kind and always ready to help. The Hotel's proximity to Cairo Downtown
Because of its location close to very heavy traffic roads, rooms are quite noisy. But once tired by a long day trip, it is nevertheless easy to get to sleep.

The staff were very helpfull & attentive. The location was 2nd to none & located across the road from the egyptian museum. The hotel is old (not unusual in Cairo) but the rooms are clean & bigger than rooms in european hotels on the same star rating. A word of warning, take some earplugs, because the road noise outside is deafing at night without them.

The hotel is across the street from the Egyptian museum which is a plus, although crossing the street is a nightmare. We were able to book all of our tours at the hotel as well as a dinner cruise on the Nile. There is a safe in the room which we should have kept our cameras in because you can't take them into the Egyptian museum. The breakfast was plentiful. There are tons of clothes shops in the area if that is what you are looking for.
Although there is hot water in the rooms, there is not very much as it is heated in a small tank attached to the wall so you have to take very short showers otherwise the second persons shower is cold. The staff are very pushy and demanding of tips for the smallest gestures such as moving your bag ten feet - this seemed to be the case everywhere we went so perhaps it is just a cultural difference we were not aware of. The hotel is not in a good area for restaurants, so eating out is a challenge. Aside from the Egyptian museum, the hotel is not in a great location for sightseeing, culture or walking around Cairo, so you will have to take a taxi or the metro everywhere you go.

Yes, City View Hotel is noisy, and it could do with a little updating... but then again, it is located in central Cairo, which is notoriously chaotic, and the benefits far outweigh the flaws. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient; the rooms are a good size and very clean, the bathrooms are lovely, and the breakfast is great. Add an excellent location, right in front of the Egyptian Museum, and you really can't ask for more.
